Joe the "Head Baker". Without his help and encouragement, we never would have made it this far. Joe is the one everyone in our family business depends upon for all his support and business expertise. He is the 'brains' for our marketing and project management. Joe also is the one who makes all the bread that flows out of our bakery daily, whether to those who walk in or to those who stock our products. He is always thinking of new products to bring in, or make to keep the variety fresh and unique for the sake of our customers who usually do NOT have so many choices. Joe also is the head of our sales dept.We regularly are bringing in more and more products from other manufacturers, and it is quite a job to keep our shelves stocked with cereals, crackers, jams, honeys, and Montana Gluten Free Oats!
Valerie is the busy mother of 9 children ranging in age from 6 yrs to 24years, and 'Oma' to a 4 year old and a 2 year old. 7 of the children have celiac disease. Baking for her own family is a joy especially when it is so much appreciated. Through the years, much needed to be learned about baking gluten free food that was not only edible, but delicious, tasty and healthy for the children. She will be seen in the bakery a fair bit more now with Joe's health issues, and she loves every minute of it there. Teaching some of the new staff (nieces to Valerie) who have recently come on board is great fun, especially when there is so much drive and enthusiasm to learn :)
Lianne and Karin, 2 of our daughters, are essential members to our team as the girls are quite knowledgeable about both their disease and the gluten free diet. Karin makes all the pies, cheesecakes, and cookies. It is a big job with a large supply going out each week. Lianne helps us with the piles of paperwork, taking care of our retail customers that come through the door each day, preparing our 10 homemade soups that we make and freeze for your convenience, shopping and deliveries. Lianne stepped up when her dad became ill, and we could not have done it without her willingness to put her life "on hold" for a little bit.
Angelica is our full time employee who has taken over the early morning baking in Joe's recent illness. She also still makes Nanaimo bars and Lemon squares She puts in a full hard day on her feet, 5 days a week and we are very pleased with her contributions to the business and how she stepped up to the plate when Joe suddenly became unavailable. A fantastic part of our company, and valuable member in our 'family'.
Vicky is the newest member in our bakery family staff. She is a recent 12th grade graduate from CACHS, and has always LOVED baking and cooking. She does very good work and is always excited to learn more. She has even offered to get up early, like at 5 or 6 a.m. to learn how to bake bread! This shows real dedication and potential for a fantastic employee, especially for someone so young! She is quite creative as well, and is having a good time decorating cakes and coming up with some neat ideas for new products that we could offer. WELCOME aboard Vicky!
Rebekah just joined our staff a few weeks ago. She is a ray of sunshine and joy in our bakery! She fills in where ever we need her to; making pie crusts, cutting squares, preparing pumpkins, peeling apples for pies, cleaning, doing mountains of dishes, Making homemade soups, and many other area's. She is an excellent worker and is always ready to learn something new. As a celiac herself, she has a real vested interest in learning what we do and how we do it. We are thankful that God sent her our way and are looking forward to many happy working hours together with her.
