Our Team

Joe the "Head Baker". Without his help and encouragement, we never would have made it this far. Joe is the one everyone in our family business depends upon for all his support and business expertise. He is the 'brains' for our marketing and project management. Joe also is the one who makes all the bread that flows out of our bakery daily, whether to those who walk in or to those who stock our products. He is always thinking of new products to make or bring in to keep the variety fresh and unique for the sake of our customers who usually do NOT have so many choices. Joe also is the head of our sales department. We regularly bring in products from other manufacturers, and it is quite a job to keep our shelves stocked with crackers, jams, honeys, perogies, and Montana Gluten Free Oats! Joe is on the road a lot as well making sales calls, and delivering our orders all around Alberta. When he is in the store he looks after the customers and helps in SO many different areas.

Valerie is the busy mother of 9 children ranging in age from 7 yrs to 25 years, and 'Oma' to a 5 year old and a 4 year old. 7 of the children have celiac disease. Through the years, much needed to be learned about baking gluten free food that was not only edible, but delicious and healthy for the children. She will be seen in the bakery a fair bit more now with 5 of the children now attending day-school; and she loves every minute of it there. Making the 8 homemade soups, lasagnas, and customer service will be her primary concerns, though she can fill in where ever is needed. Teaching some of the new staff who have recently come on board is great fun, especially when there is so much drive and enthusiasm to learn.

Karin, our daughter, is an essential member to our team as she is quite knowledgeable about both the disease and the gluten free diet. Karin slices all the bread every day, and makes all the pies, pie shells, cheesecakes, paninis and cookies. It is a big job with a large supply going out each week.

Lianne helps us with the piles of paperwork, payroll, taking care of our retail customers that come through the door when she is here, and doing some of the shopping and deliveries. Lianne stepped up when her dad became ill, and we could not have done it without her willingness to put her life "on hold" for a little bit.

Vicki is a recent 12th grade graduate from CACHS, and has always LOVED baking and cooking. She does very good work and is always excited to learn more. She has even offered to get up early, like at 5 or 6 a.m. to learn how to bake bread! This shows real dedication and potential for a fantastic employee, especially for someone so young! She is quite creative as well, and is having a good time decorating cakes and coming up with some neat ideas for new products that we could offer.

Michael is the newest member to our bakery 'family'. He joined our staff to do the early mornings back in October of last year. He is an interesting person with many fascinating aspects to his personality and scope of working expertise. He starts at 4 a.m. and bakes the bread and buns every morning. He also contributes a lot to making pizzas every day by making the pizza crusts.
